A new Church for Aviemore
Set in the Scottish Highlands Aviemore has a population of approximately 5000. The wider Badenoch and Strathspey area (including the Cairngorm National Park) takes in a further 11000 people.
Economically the area has a growing tourism industry and an expanding population (at 8.5% – a faster rate than other parts of Scotland). Along with new retail and tourism developments Planning Permission has also recently been granted for the building of up to 1500 new homes in the area.
Along with a growing town there is a need for a new Biblically faithful and outward looking church.
To see a lively gospel-proclaiming church established which can reach out to a new generation of people. The goal is to see Jesus Christ made known through the witness of a Bible-centred and culturally accessible local congregation.
A small planning group has been set-up and is seeking to raise funds to support this new venture. We are delighted to have identified a church planter/pastor who is gifted in Bible teaching and has a heart for evangelism. The plan is to begin outreach work and gather an gospel-hearted team in a new community based fellowship.
The new Church Plant is being supported in part by FIEC and the US Avery Church Network. However we need support and cooperation from others – indeed we want this venture to be backed by gospel hearted people across Scotland (and beyond) who share our Biblical convictions and passion for outreach.
